Featuring scientific discoveries, innovative approaches to design and new technology, this year’s PDM Event will once again be a showcase of the UK’s dynamic plastics sector.

Established for more than a decade as the leading event for the design and moulding sectors of the plastics industry, PDM Event has expanded in recent years to include recycling and packaging. The addition of a composites element for 2016 represents a new stage in its evolution, the organisers say. Composite materials – lauded for their strength and light weight – are driving new standards in design, helping carmakers to reduce fuel consumption and carbon emissions. Claire Whysall, communications manager of Composites UK, which has partnered with PDM Event organisers to develop this new dimension of the PDM Event, said: “We are excited by the opportunity PDM Event provides to showcase the latest innovation and technology developments in thermoplastic composites for both structural and aesthetic applications in what is an increasingly exciting and vibrant sector.”

The show will also feature a free-to-attend conference covering injection moulding, rotational moulding, energy-efficient equipment and 3D mould tool design. According to the organisers, moulders can also find out about new opportunities created by alternative materials and effect pigments and a technological solution for optimising the injection moulding process called Preview.
