Market player Tracking KUKA’s avenues
The sector of industrial robots is expected to keep growing. One of the big players in this field – KUKA – has launched some new developments in the robotics and automation industry and the company has also bagged further contracts.

KUKA is one of the leading manufacturers of industrial robots and solutions for factory automation. The organization caters to the automotive industry, general industry and offers everything from individual components to fully automated systems. Experts from the industry have predicted the global robot machine tools market to grow at a CAGR (Compound Annual Growth Rate) of 5.13 % from 2017-2020. Hence, it is not surprising that the company is constantly trying to innovate and come up with better technologies and techniques.
New avenues
The KUKA LBR Med lightweight robot has been certified for integration into a medical product. This is the maiden robotic component worldwide to achieve this feat. The firm has also recently announced its investment in the Munich-based IoT (Internet of Things) company Device Insight . Through this venture, the firm is looking to strengthen the IoT expertise of its start-up subsidiary, connyun and at the same time expand its own portfolios in this area.
KUKA has also invested in the factory of the future by acquiring Visual Components. The firm specializes in 3D simulation for factory planning, which is considered a vital component when it comes to modern and prospective software solutions.
Contracts bagged at KUKA
The company has been awarded diverse contracts from global businesses around the world. For instance, in October KUKA won three major new systems contracts from a leading manufacturer of premium vehicles in the USA. These projects comprise the engineering and construction of systems to build vehicles body structures in the USA and Mexico. The order value lies at approximately 75 million dollars and production is expected to commence from mid-2019.
Furthermore, KUKA Industries has received an order from a leading European manufacturer in the automotive industry to supply a further battery production system. The company has set up the production system for the manufacture of battery modules and high-voltage batteries that will be used in electric vehicles.
KUKA has been exhibiting at diverse shows across the globe to build its brand name. For instance, the firm has exhibited at mega industrial fairs such as EMO, Hannover Messe, China International Industry Fair, Schweissen & Schneiden trade fair, IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA) and so on.
