Turkey is at the 26th position of the global machine construction industry with 14 billion USD of machine exports. Machine construction is one of the most important sectors of the Turkish economy. Despite the current economic state in the world and even in Turkey, machine construction has grown well in the past decade.

The economic growth of Turkey continues to exist, wherein the machine construction sector has a substantial share. Its share in export is 8.6% and for the coming years, till the jubilee of the establishment in 2023, expansion by 20% is planned.

In the past 5 years, exports in this sector have risen by 15%. In all sectors of machine construction, Turkey has companies that produce and export with high quality. For this company, it is important to strengthen its sustainable competitiveness in the global market.

With Industrie 4.0 and robotics, even the Turkey is at an important point to pick up the trend of the time and to lay the foundation for the necessary infrastructure.

For the German company, the Turkish machine construction sector offers great potential as a buying market as well as an international location and thus for international investments.

We, as Turkish Machinery, are paying special attention in our work in Germany to intensifying German-Turkish collaboration, generating collaborations, supporting technology transfer as well as on common projects in the field of research and development. For this purpose, we are working intensively on extending relations to German companies, associations, organisations and clubs directly from the field of research.

The German-Turkish collaboration in the field of machine building offers enormous opportunities and high potential, which can be used. As Turkish Machinery, we are currently representing about 8000 Turkish member companies in the machine construction sector and thus cover the fields of machine manufacturers, supply industry, order production as well as suppliers for intermediate and end customers.

We will be represented even in the year 2016 at various trade fairs in Germany to fulfil these tasks.

Turkish Machinery is present at the following trade fairs:

  • METAV, Düsseldorf
  • Bauma, Munich
  • Hannover trade fair
  • IFAT, Munich
  • Cemat, Hannover
  • Automatica, Munich
  • K`2016, Düsseldorf
  • Euroblech, Hannover

As already mentioned, machine construction is one of the most dynamic sectors of Turkey and the economic plan foresees a quality and export offensive. Even more important is a well-performing, multi-layered international interest representation.

In this strategy, the individual associations of machine construction have been newly setup and a common umbrella organisation is established - Machine Federation, abbreviated as MAKFED.

So far, there are only individual associations of individual sectors and the semi-public umbrella organisation MAIB for the exporting machine builder. This organisation is known overseas by the name “Turkish Machinery”. Its aim is to strengthen the image of Turkish machine construction industry and to generate new collaborations.

MAIB or Turkish Machinery has now started the founding of the entire organisation, which is the federation for all domestic and overseas sector associations, especially in Europe. Adnan Dalgakiran, president of the new association: “We are looking for contact with the new machine construction associations and want to further improve existing relations. Our agenda includes extending cooperation and collaboration in research and development based on Industrie 4.0 as well as representing interests and expectations of our sector in view of the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership agreement TTIP.”

Many of the founding associations of MAKFED are simultaneously active in Europe or Germany in the corresponding associations. MAKFED itself was already included in the European Umbrella Organisation Orgalime, shortly after its establishment, as the only federation of the Turkish machine construction (“European economic association for machine construction, electric and electronic industry as well as metal processing”).

In this way, the Turkish machine construction sector challenges the present and the future and will face the responsibilities with result and quality orientation.
