The intelligent barcode scanners from Proglove have already been put into service where workers have previously used conventional pistol scanners. With this technology, users are said to save up to 4 sec per scan. A newcomer is the Mark One S, the wearable scanner for standard-range applications, along with the Mark 2, its younger brother for the medium range.

With Proglove wearables, workers no longer need to waste effort picking up or looking for a scanner. Now they wear it in the form of a glove or cuff and can activate it comfortably. The maker emphasises that these scanners are the smallest and lightest in the world. The low weight means that the load lifted by a worker every shift is reduced by up to 1.5 t. Due to functions such as the worker feedback, it is furthermore possible to avoid 33 % the typical mistakes, Proglove explains. With this function, users are given an immediate acoustic, optical and haptic warning when they scan the wrong article.

“We do not anticipate fully automated factories in the foreseeable future,” says Andreas König, CEO at Proglove, explaining his investment in this technology. “We are of the firm opinion that industrial wearables will be the next ‘big thing’ and we assume that Germany and central Europe must and will play a leading role in this development.”
