Data Privacy Statement for Vogel Communications Group
We would like to inform you of how we handle personal data. If you have any questions about this, please feel free to contact us directly. Our contact details are at the end of this document. You can also contact the regulatory body responsible for data protection with your questions and complaints.
Legal basis for the processing of your data
Part of the service we offer is collecting, processing and using your personal data for the purposes of offering customer-oriented services. Whenever possible, we offer you the ability to have total freedom in deciding which data you want to communicate to us.
We process your data on the legal basis of Article 6 of the GDPR as follows:
Once a contract is in place between yourselves and ourselves, we process your data for the fulfilment of this contract on the basis of Article 6, Para 1, Sub-para. b of the GDPR, for example when you order goods from us, sign up to events (online/offline), request services, register on our portals or access information services.
In some cases, the basis of processing is the requirement to safeguard our legitimate interests or the legitimate interests of third parties in accordance with Article 6, Para 1, Sub-para f of the GDPR. These legitimate interests are on the one hand advertising for products and offerings, better provision of information to customers in line with their interests and requirements, designing our product offering to be needs-based, monitoring of advertising success and attracting the interest of new customers. Our goal is to only offer you specific information and services that correspond to your work-related interests and needs. You can assert your rights in dealings with us at any time. We therefore assume there are no grounds to believe the interests of our customers and prospective customers that are worthy of protection cause conflict with this. Should this not apply however in particular cases, you can revoke this use of your data at any time. On the other hand, this is also a check of your creditworthiness should you take advantage of offers for which we charge. In such cases, we always assume that our interest in a contractual settlement of our service outweighs an interest of our customers that is worthy of protection to the exclusion of such use.
Fiscal regulations mean some data must be collected and processed. In such cases, the basis is Article 6, Para 1, Sub-para c of the GDPR. If, as a business partner, you do not make this data available (such as your UIN), we could be forced in addition into withholding taxes.
For some processing purposes, we need your consent, which we then seek from you separately. In these cases, processing of your data is on the basis of Article 6, Para 1, Sub-para a of the GDPR. Should we conduct direct marketing by phone, fax or email, it is with your consent. It is only in cases when we have received your email address in conjunction with the sale of a product or service that we might use it to advertise our own, similar goods and services. You can revoke this use at any time.
With your consent, we process personal data that we receive from your queries and use of our online portals, and your responses to electronic advertising media. You have the right at any time to revoke consent granted to us so as to be effective in the future. The way to revoke your consent can be found on all our portals and mailings at the bottom of the pages. Or use our Service portal: https://support.vogel.de/
What aims are we pursuing when processing your data?
As a media company, we are looking to provide you relevant, topic-related information.
We offer specialist information in the form of print products and online portals with which you are able to learn more about the products and services offered on the respective specialist markets or about your products. We use your data to be able to select information, offers and services corresponding exactly to your needs and interests, and to be able to deliver these products and information to you and invoice you where applicable.
We also use your data to offer goods and services for sale, and to transact sales.
In addition, we organise public and non-public events (including congresses and seminars, individual customer events and digital events). We use personal data to provide support to attendees of our events in the planning, registration, participation and follow-up activities after an event, and provide them with all necessary and useful information. In addition, we use your data to provide offers corresponding to your information and communication needs.
One of the services we provide is enabling you to advertise yourself using our communication channels, for example in our printed products, on our online portals, in our newsletters and as a cooperation partner at fairs and other events.
We use your data to provide you with print and online advertising media from our portfolio that enable you to reach your target audiences.
Finally, we use your data to offer you specific services, such as consultation in the development and implementation of advertising campaigns, advice about optimising the achievement of objectives for promotions, enrichment of your customer master data, market research, consulting and implementation of events for customers or employees, agency services and communication services.
When you use our online offers, we use your data for the platform-compliant provision and continual improvement of these online offers, and to group prospective customers and vendors using our platforms by presenting to you the offers of our customers that match your needs and interests. When you use an offer for which we charge, we use your data to transact the order and for invoicing.
What data is collected?
We save and process the data we need for the purposes pursued by us. This is your name, your function and position within the company, your job title, your field of activity, the industry in which your company operates, the markets in which your company is or would like to be active, and the technical processes deployed within your company. In addition, your address and contact details so we can contact you if necessary (also electronically). If you are already a customer, we save all accounting data we need to invoice our services, as well as your bank details as required, your terms and conditions when dealing with us, and data relevant to tax.
To optimise our offers, we store for example data about your company that is freely accessible in the public domain from the Internet, or compare how up-to-date your data is with suitable, freely available databases.
Furthermore, we collect data about your interests, which we derive from your requests and usage of our online portals - because our goal is to offer you only those offers that match your requirements and interests. This is either with your consent or by using pseudonyms, i.e. we ensure there is no association with identifying information (more on this below in the list of software products used).
We also conduct advertising success checks, for which we collect and assess the responses of recipients of newsletters and promotional emails. For this we use information about the messages and product offerings you open and click.
Some data is also sent automatically. For example, your computer automatically tells us information such as IP address, browser type and access times when you use our online portals. We require this information for the best possible visualisation of our online product offerings on your hardware.
Storage duration of your data
We keep your data stored until a mutually concluded contract is in place and fulfilled by both parties. After the end of the business relationship, we store your data for an additional three years. In some cases, such as when you are a recipient of a newsletter or one of our magazines as part of a circulation with targeted readership, your data is stored until revocation or you request its deletion. Furthermore, we are legally bound to satisfy the fiscal and commercial law record retention obligations for accounting data (6 and 10 years respectively).
We erase your online usage data three years after the last contact with you. This period starts the last time there is communication between us.
Details on acquiring new customers that we potentially collect from third parties are also erased after three years provided no contract is in place or they request no further information.
Exercising of your rights
We are obligated to inform you that you have
- a right to information about which data we have stored about you
- a right to amendment of this data if it has changed or is incorrect
- a right to request restriction of processing up to the point of clarification of the correctness of the data should it not be clear whether the data is correct, or it is in the sense of a revocation for a specific use or the entire processing of your data

- the right at any time to revoke consent granted beforehand so as to be effective in the future

Recipients of the data
Data is processed centrally within the Vogel company group at Vogel Communications Group and used for advertising purposes on behalf of participating companies.
In some cases we are assisted in data processing by service providers who process personal data on our behalf. We have bound these providers to us with an order process contract in such a way that they only process data for our business purposes and under our instruction.
With your consent, Vogel passes on your data to Vogel customers the services of which you have accessed on one of our online portals (such as a white paper from a certain vendor). These companies are responsible themselves as defined by data protection law. This forwarding is only for the purposes of advertising and market/opinion research. When making your decision, bear in mind that your data might also be sent to third countries outside the EU and, in this case, we cannot provide any guarantees for the security of the data once it is sent.

The information obtained about your usage of this website is sent to the Adobe servers, where it is saved. SiteCatalyst uses this information to evaluate your usage of the website to compile for us reports on your website activities. You can disable the installation of cookies from a corresponding setting in your browser software; note however that if you do, you might not be able to use all of the functions of this website.
By using this website, you consent to the processing of data about you in the manner described above and for the purposes set out above.

We have statistical values on the usage of our services calculated. For this, we deploy the "scalable central measurement procedure (SZM)" from INFOline (www.infonline.de ), that collates anonymous readings. For recognising computer systems again, the SZM range measurement uses alternatively a cookie with ID "ivwbox.de" or a signature created from different information from your computer that is sent automatically. IP addresses are not saved in the procedure and are only processed in anonymised form.
The range measurement was developed in due consideration of data privacy. The goal of the range measurement is to determine statistically the usage intensity and the number of website users. Individual users are not identified at any time. Their identities remain protected at all times. You receive no advertising from the system.
For web offers from members of the Informationsgemeinschaft zur Feststellung der Verbreitung von Werbeträgern e.V. (IVW - www.ivw.eu ), or those participating in the "internet facts" study by the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Online-Forschung e.V (AGOF - www.agof.de), usage statistics are published on a monthly basis by the AGOF and the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Media-Analyse e.V. (ag.ma - www.Agma-mmc.de ), and the IVW, and can be viewed on www.agof.de, www.Agma-mmc.de and www.ivw.eu
In addition to the publication of measurement data, the IVW verifies the SZM procedure on a regular basis as regards usage compliant with regulations and data protection. More information on the SZM procedure can be found on the website of INFOline GmbH ( www.infonline.de), who run the SZM procedure, the data protection website of AGOF ( www.agof.de/Datenschutz) and the data protection website of the IVW (www.ivw.eu). This website uses Google Analytics, a web analysis service from Google Inc. (“Google”).
If IP anonymisation is enabled on this website, your IP address is truncated beforehand by Google within Member States of the European Union or in other signatory states to the convention on the European Economic Area.
The full IP address is only sent to a Google server in the US, and truncated there, in exceptional cases. On behalf of the operator of this website, Google will use this information to evaluate your use of the website, to compile reports about website activities, and to render other services associated with website and Internet usage vis-a-vis the website operator.
The IP address sent from your browser as part of Google Analytics is not merged with other data from Google. You can disable the installation of cookies from a corresponding setting in your browser software; note however that if you do, you might not be able to use all of the functions of this website.
Furthermore, you can prevent the reading by Google of the data pertaining to your usage of the website, generated by the cookie (including your IP address), and processing of this data by Google, by downloading and installing the browser plugin available from the following link: http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=de

By using our product offerings, you consent to the processing of data acquired about you by Google in the manner described above and for the purposes set out above. We make reference to that fact that Google has its own data privacy policies that are independent of ours. We assume no responsibility or liability for these policies and procedures. Please look into the Google data privacy regulations before using our website.
Products and services from Wiredminds GmbH (www.wiredminds.de) are used on this website for the purposes of marketing and optimisation. The data collected, that can also contain personal data, is sent to Wiredminds or collected directly by Wiredminds. Wiredminds is permitted to use information left on the websites from visits to create anonymised usage profiles. Without consent from the person in question, issued separately, data obtained this way is not used to personally identify visitors to this website, and the data is not combined with personal data on the bearer of the pseudonym. If IP addresses are collected, they are anonymised immediately after collection with deletion of the last number block.
Data collection, processing and storage can be revoked at any time, to be effective in the future.

To make it easier for you to find us, we have integrated maps of the Google Maps service from Google LLC into our website via an API. In order to display the content in your browser, Google must receive your IP address, otherwise Google could not provide you with this embedded content.
The legal basis for this data processing is Art. 6 Para. 1 b) DSGVO, since the IP address is required in order to be able to provide you with the content. Google Admanager/ Doubleclick
Google Doubleclick (incl. SafeFrame and Publisher Tags): About the service / platform DoubleClick of the provider Google Inc. (Google) is a service that delivers, processes, controls, and optimizes advertisers' advertisements based on your interests on publishers' websites. Cookies are set for this purpose. When using Doubleclick, we also use the Google Publisher Tags functionality, which allows us to optimally target the content of the website, and Google SafeFrame to optimize the delivery of advertising.
You can deactivate Google's interest-based ads in your browser by clicking on the "deactivate" link in the "deactivation settings" section of https://www.google.de/settings/ads or - if you are using Google Chrome, Firefox or Internet Explorer - by deactivating the DoubleClick cookie by installing the extension for your browser offered at http://www.google.de/settings/ads
We use the services of Google Ads Conversion to draw attention to our attractive offers with the help of advertising media (so-called Google Ads) on external websites. In relation to the data of the advertising campaigns, we can determine how successful the individual advertising measures are. We pursue with it the interest to show you advertisement which is of interest for you, to make our website more interesting for you and to achieve a fair calculation of advertising costs.
These advertising media are delivered by Google via so-called "Ad Servers". For this purpose we use Ad Server Cookies, which can be used to measure certain parameters such as the display of ads or clicks by users. If you access our website via a Google advertisement, Google Ads stores a cookie on your terminal device. These cookies usually lose their validity after 30 days and are not intended to identify you personally. The unique cookie ID, number of ad impressions per placement (frequency), last impression (relevant for post-view conversions) and opt-out information (marking that the user no longer wishes to be addressed) are usually stored as analysis values for this cookie.
These cookies enable Google to recognize your Internet browser. If a user visits certain pages on an Ad customer's website and the cookie stored on their computer has not expired, Google and the customer may recognize that the user clicked on the ad and was directed to that page. Each ads customer is assigned a different cookie. Cookies can therefore not be traced via the websites of ads customers. We ourselves do not collect and process any personal data in the aforementioned advertising measures. We only receive statistical evaluations from Google. On the basis of these evaluations, we can identify which of the advertising measures used are particularly effective. We do not receive any further data from the use of the advertising media, in particular we cannot identify the users on the basis of this information.
Due to the marketing tools used, your browser automatically establishes a direct connection with the Google server. We have no influence on the extent and further use of the data collected by Google through the use of this tool and therefore inform you according to our state of knowledge: Through the integration of Ads Conversion Google receives the information that you have called the relevant part of our website or clicked on an advertisement from us. If you are registered with a Google service, Google can assign the visit to your account. Even if you are not registered with Google or have not logged in, it is possible that the provider may find out and store your IP address.
Google Ads Remarketing
We use the remarketing function within the Google Ads service. The remarketing feature allows us to present advertisements based on the interests of users of our website on other websites within the Google advertising network (in Google search or on YouTube, so-called "Google ads" or on other websites). For this purpose, the interaction of the users on our website is analysed, e.g. which offers the user is interested in in order to be able to display targeted advertising to the users on other pages even after visiting our website. To do this, Google stores a number in the browsers of users who visit certain Google services or websites on the Google display network. This number, known as a "cookie", is used to record the visits of these users. This number is used to uniquely identify a web browser on a particular device and not to identify a person; personal data is not stored. You can prevent participation in this tracking process in various ways: a) by setting your browser software accordingly, in particular by suppressing third party cookies so that you do not receive any third-party advertisements; b) by installing the plug-in provided by Google under the following link: https://www.google.com/settings/ads/plugin; c) by disabling the interest-based advertisements of the providers that are part of the "About Ads" self-regulatory campaign via the http://www.aboutads.info/choices link, this setting being deleted when you delete your cookies; d) by permanently disabling it in your Firefox, Internet Explorer or Google Chrome browsers via the http://www.google.com/settings/ads/plugin link; e) by setting cookies accordingly. We draw your attention to the fact that in this case you may not be able to make full use of all the functions of this offer. You can find further information on data protection at Google here: http://www.google.com/intl/de/policies/privacy and https://services.google.com/sitestats/de.html. Alternatively, you can visit the Network Advertising Initiative (NAI) Web site at http://www.networkadvertising.org Google has submitted to the EU-US Privacy Shield, https://www.privacyshield.gov/EU-US-Framework. Cookies used: Type c. You can find more information in the "Cookies" section. Lifetime of cookies: up to 1 month (this only applies to cookies set via this website). Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) a DSGVO
Google Tag Manager
This website uses the Google Tag Manager. Google Tag Manager is a solution that allows marketers to manage website tags through a single interface. The Tool Tag Manager itself (which implements the tags) is a cookie-less domain and does not collect any personal data. The tool triggers other tags that may themselves collect data. Google Tag Manager does not access this data. If deactivation has been made at the domain or cookie level, it will persist for all tracking tags implemented with Google Tag Manager.

We use the YouTube.com platform to post our own videos and make them publicly available. YouTube is the offer of a third party not affiliated with us, YouTube LLC.
Some Internet pages of our offer contain links to the YouTube offer. As a general rule, we are not responsible for the content of websites to which links are provided. In the event that you follow a link on YouTube, however, we would like to point out that YouTube stores the data of its users (e.g. personal information, IP address) in accordance with its own data usage guidelines and uses them for business purposes.
On some of our websites, we also integrate videos stored on YouTube directly. In this integration, content from the YouTube website is displayed in sub-areas of a browser window. However, YouTube videos are only accessed by clicking on them separately. This technique is also called "framing". If you call up a (sub-)page of our website on which YouTube videos are integrated in this form, a connection is established to the YouTube servers and the content is displayed on the website by notifying your browser.
YouTube content is only integrated in the "extended data protection mode". YouTube provides this itself, thereby ensuring that YouTube does not initially store any cookies on your device. However, when you access the relevant pages, the IP address and the other data mentioned in Section 4 are transmitted and you are thus informed in particular which of our Internet pages you have visited. However, this information cannot be assigned to you unless you have registered with YouTube or another Google service (e.g. Google+) or are permanently registered before accessing the site.
As soon as you start the playback of an integrated video by clicking on it, YouTube only stores cookies on your device that do not contain any personally identifiable data, unless you are currently logged in to a Google service. These cookies can be prevented by appropriate browser settings and extensions.
