All hail for one of the biggest manufacturing technologies shows in the Americas – the International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS) 2018! Sponsored by the Association for Manufacturing Technology (AMT), the event will roll out its red carpet from September 10–15, 2018 at the McCormick Place in Illinois, USA. Held every alternate year, the premier show attracts the crème of the manufacturing industry from 117 countries.

The main intention of visitors attending this fair is to lookout for solutions or new innovations for their existing manufacturing processes and also to stay updated on the latest technological happenings of the sector. The last edition of IMTS witnessed footfalls of around 2,407 exhibitors along with an astonishing figure of 115,612 registrants and the organizers are hoping for a similar scenario even this year around.

Special at IMTS 2018

With a strong focus on the major manufacturing industries such as aerospace, automotives, machine shops, medical and power generation, the event will showcase more than 15,000 new machine tools, controls, computers, software, components, systems and processes that can improve efficiency at the shop floor.

All these solutions will be segregated into diverse IMTS pavilions such as:

Abrasive machining/sawing/finishing: This pavilion offers a plethora of high tolerance and precision surface finish technologies especially for the auto, aerospace and medical industries as precision and accuracy is of utmost importance in these sectors. On exhibit one can find the latest innovations in grinding technology; sawing; cutoff machines; finishing technologies such as lapping, balancing, honing and polishing machines; cylindrical grinders; CNC tool & cutter grinders; universal grinders; crankshaft & abrasive cutoff machines; and many more. (North Building, Level 3)

Additive manufacturing: This segment will display the latest innovations in the 3D printing space. Companies are constantly working to launch new contemporary solutions to ease the manufacturing process with additive manufacturing as well as hybrid technologies. (West Building, Level 3)

Controls & CAD-CAM: Optimizing the operations and efficiency of the plants is an important area to look into. This pavilion will showcase CIM/CAD/CAM systems; CNC controls; automation management systems; communications systems and LAN; software development systems services and much more. The controls and software will assist visitors to make use of digital data and then integrate it into complete solutions. (East Building, Level 2 & Level 3)

Other pavillions include:

  • EDM
  • Fabricating & Lasers
  • Gear Generation
  • Machine Components/Cleaning/Environmental
  • Metal Cutting
  • Quality Assurance
  • Tooling & Workholding Systems

This wide range of covered topics ensures that all the industry requirements and needs of the visitors are fulfilled by touring these sections. There is something for everyone!
