Machine Tool Show Japan: Key insights in IoT and manufacturing
JIMTOF 2016 (The 28th Japan International Machine Tool Fair), one of the largest machine tool exhibitions in Asia organized by Japan Machine Tool Builders’ Association and Tokyo Big Sight Inc. will be held at Tokyo Big Sight for six days from November 17 to November 22, 2016. The program of the lectures, seminars and talk sessions held during the Fair has now been announced.

The key note lecture will be provided by Director of the Artificial Intelligence Research Center (AIST), Dr. Junichi Tsujii. In addition, a range of events to provide key insights about autos, IoT and manufacturing in general will be held during the six-day event.
Key Note Lecture and Special Lectures
On the first day of JIMTOF 2016, Dr. Tsujii will give a key note lecture with the theme of the ‘Future Development of Artificial Intelligence and Applications to Industrial Machinery’. He is a key person of the development of AI in Japan, which is the core of industries’ competitiveness. Four special lectures will be held on November 18. Executive General Manager of Toyota Motor Corporation, Yoshihito Kondo will give a special lecture titled, ‘New Vehicle-Manufacturing Advancing together with the Machine Tool Industry’. And on November 21, Emeritus Professor of The University of Tokyo and Professor of Gakushuin University, Dr. Motoshige Itoh will give a special lecture titled, ‘The Global Economy and the Near Future Business Management of the Manufacturing Industry.’ In addition, Designated Professor of Nagoya University, Dr. Takashi Ishikawa will give a special lecture on ‘Relationships between CFRP and Machine Tools: The Processing and Application of CFRP’ and Industrial Value Chain Initiative (IVI) will provide a special lecture on ‘The Japanese contribution to Smart Manufacturing’ on November 22.
Special Seminar and Exhibits
A seminar titled, Seize the Victory! Japanese Manufacturing Technologies Supporting World-Class Athletes will be held on November 20. Athletes who use barbells for weight lifting and wheelchairs for racing will be invited to a talk session so that the audience can learn how the advanced Japanese technology is helping the athletes.
Also, the special exhibits will present a program introducing Japan’s metal spinning technology and technology that are indispensable to make the world-famous Fukui eyeglasses. Popular programs such as the 17th International Machine Tool Engineers’ Conference (IMEC) and seminars for students will also be held during the Fair.
