Hannover Messe 2019 Internal Freewheels

| Editor: Theresa Knell

They look like roller bearings, but turn in one direction only: the FZ series of internal freewheels. They are one of the main exhibits at the Ringspann fair booth.

The FZ internal freewheels from Ringspann have the same dimensions as the 62 series of DIN grooved roller bearings. This exterior affinity supports the realisation of spatially optimised assembly solutions.

At the first glance, one can confuse these internal freewheels with enclosed roller bearings. They look deceptively similar and have the same external dimensions as the 62 range of grooved ballbearings according to DIN. This exterior affinity is an advantage, for it often simplifies design work and supports the realisation of spatially optimised assembly solutions, the maker tells us. In drive systems, FZ freewheels can be used as back rotation locks, overrunning clutches or indexing freewheels with nominal torques between 9.0 and 420 Nm. Here the roller bearing characteristics combined with the freewheel functions: the bearing turns in one direction only.

These zero-maintenance freewheels have bore diameters up to 40 mm and in standard form are suitable for use under normal operating conditions.

Ringspann delivers the FZ series of freewheels ready-to-fit and pre-greased for integration into the customer’s housing. For use in food technology or other hygiene-sensitive areas, the freewheels are available with food-safe grease. Likewise on view at the Hannover Messe will be FZ freewheels with acrylonitrile-butadiene rubber seals on both sides (2RS sealing).
