Feature ‘Integrated Energy’ is the future
Hannover Messe welcomes industry stalwarts from around the world to discuss and share interesting insights and innovations about the future of the energy industry – integrated energy systems.
According to the International Energy Outlook 2017 Report by the US Energy Information Administration, the total world energy consumption rises from 575 quadrillion British thermal units (Btu) in 2015 to 736 quadrillion Btu in 2040, an increase of 28 %. The demand for energy is expected to increase in Non-OECD Asia (including China and India) which accounts for more than half of the world’s total increase in energy consumption over the 2015–2040 projection period.
The demand for energy is going to increase in the future and with this comes the challenge of opting for greener and smarter sources of energy to control climate change. Sustainable energies such as solar, wind and hybrid have already entered the foray and are showing significant progress across numerous fields but to optimally utilise this green energy, it has to be combined with the right energy storage and be a part of an ‘Integrated Energy’ system.
What is an Integrated Energy system?
Integrated Energy system brings together various forms of energy carriers including electricity with other infrastructures, such as water, transportation, and data networks. The system makes use of the combined strength of all these energy systems and maximizes the value of every unit of energy we use. What does this mean? For instance, power might be generated by photovoltaic systems or biogas plants; the excess energy is then transformed into hydrogen which is then stored and turned back into energy and heat when needed with the help of a fuel cell. Data networks play an important role in this entire process.
High on Energy at Hannover Messe
Organisations around the globe are realising the importance of integrated energy systems as it enables to cut down costs by using energy more efficiently. Hannover Messe 2018, one of the largest trade fairs for industrial technology across the globe will also be highlighting this vital segment in its Energy segment. Innovative technologies; discussions on developing the charging infrastructure of tomorrow and how to lead a successful energy transition along with many other interesting aspects will be discussed at the fair.
Energy – one of the leading trade shows for integrated energy systems and mobility will witness the presence of more than 1,800 exhibitors, showcase more than 6,400 products and host 500 events. The event will be held from April 23–27, 2018 at the Hannover Exhibition Grounds in Hanover, Germany.
