New innovations Insight into EMAG’s solutions
EMAG, the German manufacturer of machine tools, has introduced some new products lately, enlarging their product range and offering their customers even more efficient solutions. The company will showcase some of these developments at GrindTec 2018.

Known in the market for supplying manufacturing solutions of precision metal components, EMAG is constantly working on developing the latest technologies for diverse industries. The company provides solutions for part suppliers, OEMs and manufacturers. Some of the latest technologies introduced by EMAG include the vertical grinder VG 110, complete interlinked solutions for CVT soft machining and custom-fit software tools such as ‘MultiMachineMonitor’, ‘EC Data’ and ‘MachineStatus’.
Vertical grinder VG 110
EMAG will showcase the vertical grinder VG 110 at the International trade fair for grinding technology – GrindTec 2018 - at hall 5, stand 5029. The compact solution is an all-rounder when it comes to precision machining small chuck parts, out-of-round machining inner and outer contours and can also be used for cylindrical grinding. Machining with an internal grinding spindle and turning tool is also possible with this solution. Owing to the vertical design of the machine, the chips fall freely in the downward direction, thus avoiding any contamination of the clamping area. One of the most interesting features of this machine is its thermostability due to which maximum accuracy can be achieved while machining small workpieces. VG 110’s X and Z-axes are also mounted separately on the machine base.
The VG 110 is ideally suited for CBN grinding technology, with both dressable ceramic and galvanized CBN grinding wheels as an option. Rotating diamond dressing tools and the necessary AE sensors guarantee high-quality, consistent results for dressable grinding systems.
Complete interlinked solutions for CVT soft machining
Apart from this, EMAG has also introduced other innovations such as complete interlinked solutions for CVT soft machining. CVT transmissions are in great demand in the automobile sector.
The forged raw part first passes through a laser marking station that applies a data matrix code to each component, ensuring 100 per cent traceability of the process. Next, the first and second sides are turned using two VTC 200-4 pick-up turning centers from EMAG. Hardening is followed by grinding on two HG 208 machines, and a washing process. Multi-stage measuring systems assure component quality and the process is planned end-to-end, perfectly designed, and equipped with central control architecture. The customer can outsource all project planning and can therefore outsource all project planning.
Custom-fit software tools
Highlighting the concept of Industry 4.0 at EMO 2017, EMAG had demonstrated their role as ‘facilitators’ of technological change through their custom-fit software tools – ‘MultiMachineMonitor’, ‘EC Data’ and ‘MachineStatus’. MultiMachineMonitor enables the control of different machines from a central location by tablet or PC, and fine-tuning of the production process, while ‘EC Data’ software guarantees the traceability of the production process of a workpiece at any time. Last but not least, ‘MachineStatus’ provides a detailed analysis of the machine and the tools during operation.
In summary, EMAG’s diverse product range enables the industry to achieve higher efficiency along with increased productivity and within a shorter period of time.
