International event India: Successful AMTEX 2016
Asian Machine Tool Exhibition showcased a wide array of machine tools, machineries and allied products.

The Asian Machine Tool Exhibition (AMTEX) 2016, the 11th Edition of the machine tools exhibition of international standards was recently held from July 8–11, 2016 at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi. The event showcased a wide array of machine tools, machineries and allied products. Experts from length and breadth of the machine tool and manufacturing industry in India and global participants from China, Germany, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Taiwan and Turkey were participating in this gleaming event.
Strong growth in domestic production
The total market is estimated at a value of $181 billion by the end of the current three-year period. Industry experts estimate India to stand 14th in the production and 10th in the consumption of machine tools in the world. The exhibition was inaugurated by Meiban Engineering, Rishi Kapoor; Muratec Engineering, Hiroaki Kiriyama; Managing Director, Cyril Pereira and Director, Reed Triune Exhibitions Pvt Ltd, Mohammed Shakeeb; CEO, Reed Exhibitions India, Michael Mandl; Ace Micromatic Pvt Ltd, TK Ramesh; Country Head, Haas India Pvt Ltd, Terrence Miranda and Executive Director, Sahajanand Laser Technology Ltd, Maulik Patel amidst numerous top dignitaries, trade bodies and international leaders. Cyril Pereira, Managing Director, Reed Triune Exhibitions Pvt. Ltd hold the prelude mentioning that the exhibition has grown to be the largest show in the region in the last few years.
On the sidelines of the event, Frost & Sullivan unveiled its exclusive white paper themed ‘Smart & Sustainable Manufacturing – Changing Era of Indian Manufacturing’ in partnership with AMTEX followed by a series of conference sessions led by the crème de la crème of the industry. There are currently almost 700 machine tool manufacturers in India of which the top 25 players contribute a 70 per cent share. The demand is growing at a CAGR 15 per cent annually of which about 60 per cent of the demand is addressed by imports owing to the tremendous boost from the ‘Make in India’ initiative. Domestic production has shown a strong growth of 24.1 per cent in FY2014–15 over FY2013–14.

Some of the major companies that participated in the event this year are Ace Micromatic (Micromatic Machine Tools Pvt Ltd), Jyoti CNC Automation Ltd, Mitsubishi Electric India Pvt Ltd, Renishaw Metrology Systems Pvt Ltd, Muratec (Murata Machinery Ltd) and Meiban (Meiban Engineering Technology) among others. The visitor response for AMTEX 2016 was an overwhelming accumulation of a healthy attendance from sectors such as automobiles & auto components, defence, railways, capital goods and general engineering industries.
