Hannover Messe 2018 Hannover Messe and Cemat showing digital connection of production and logistics this year

The world’s best-known industrial fair is opening its doors on 23 April 2018. What is special this year is that the Cemat logistics fair is being held at the same time on the Hanover fair grounds.

Lukas Zanger, COO and co-founder of Magazino GmbH; Dr. Klaus-Dieter Rosenbach, chairman of VDMA professional association of conveyor technology and intralogitics and member of the Managing Board of Jungheinrich AG; Dr. Robert Bauer, chairman of the Managing Board of SICK AG; Dr. Jochen Köckler, chairman of the Managing Board of Deutsche Messe AG, and H.E. Rogelio Granguillhome, ambassador to the United States of Mexico (left to right) spoke about this year’s fair concept.

“The interplay of automation technology, platforms and machine learning is raising Industry 4.0 to the next level”, says Dr. Jochen Köckler, chairman of the Managing Board of Deutsche Messe AG. “Under the lead topic ‘Integrated Industry – Connect & Collaborate’, visitors from all over the world are experiencing how interconnection in industry is creating new forms of management, work and collaboration. The result: More productivity, sustainable jobs and new business models.“

Production and logistics processes, too, are being smartly connected closer to each other to allow even more efficient, flexible and cost-effective production. This bonding can be experienced directly at Cemat. “In view of the rapid interconnection of logistics and production processes, we are offering visitors from all over the world an overview of future logistics solutions never seen before“, says Köckler.

“Everyone is talking about the mobility revolution, but the fact is that the power grid is not ready for electric cars“, says Köckler. This includes for example an extensive network of charging stations, an expansion of distributor networks, and electric motorways. And here too, interconnection is unavoidable: The challenge is to smartly optimise the interplay of regenerative energy sources, accumulators and electromobility. Köckler is convinced: “The solutions for a power grid that meet the challenges of e-mobility will be shown at the Hanover Fair.“ The partner country is Mexico.
