The laser manufacturer SPI Lasers from Southampton belonging to the Trumpf group will take over JK Lasers on 15th April 2015 in Rugby. With almost 100 employees and a annual turnover of 17.6 million Euros JK Lasers is one of the leading manufacturers of high performance fibre lasers for the industry, reports Trumpf.

The headquarters of JK Lasers in Rugby will serve as an additional production and development centre for fibre lasers and optical components in the future for SPI.

JK Lasers can look back at more than 40 years of experience in laser development. The core competences of this company, which until now was a part of the GSI Group, are fibre lasers with capacities between 100 W and 4 kW and combiners for joining laser sources and other beam guidance components. The most important target groups of JK Lasers are manufacturers of machines for laser cutting applications and for generative manufacturing techniques.

Rugby will serve as an additional production and development centre for fibre lasers and optical components in the future for SPI as the expertise and product focus of both these areas will supplement each other in many respects.
