Awards Dubai: The World Steel Association announced nominees for “Steelie”

On Monday, 10 October, The World Steel Association (worldsteel) will award the leading companies of the steel industry with the award known as "Steelie". At the Annual Dinner of the 50th worldsteel conference in Dubai, the winners will be awarded in seven categories. Worldsteel now presented its shortlist of nominees for this year’s award.

As one of the largest industry associations in the world, according to worldsteel its members represent approximately 85% of the world's steel production, including over 150 steel producers with 9 of the 10 largest steel companies, national and regional steel industry associations, and steel research institutes. The association awards companies and people in a wide range of fields such as innovation, education and communication.
The Steelie categories and its nominees
The award for the steel industry website of the year recognizes the membership website that demonstrates communications excellence. The websites must deliver good results in design, loading and page delivery, information range and relevance, navigation ease, and use of new technologies. Nominees for this category are Posco, Salzgitter AG Stahl und Technologie, Tata Steel Europe, Thyssenkrupp AG, and Voestalpine AG.
The award for the innovation of the year recognizes the most innovative technical improvement or environment mitigation. Nominations are sought through the worldsteel technology committee and judged by the technology committee steering committee. On the list is Hesteel Group Co., Ltd. for their R&D of high carbon tool steel thin slab continuous casting and rolling process. For converting granulated blast furnace slag into sand, and also for the development of advanced high strength automotive steels with speed and innovation, the company JSW Steel Limited is nominated twice at once.
