Dual University Baden-Württemberg: Joint research is better
| Editor: Theresa Knell
The Dual University Baden-Württemberg is building on close co-operation with industry in research as well. The results are on show at the fair.
In e-mobility in particular, transfer research of this kind creates an environment for new kinds of concepts. A project based in Horb am Neckar demonstrates the integration of a high-temperature fuel cell into an electric vehicle as well as Homogeneous Charge Microwave Ignition (HCMI) for internal combustion motors.
But a further aim is to extract energy more efficiently using chemical processes: the very nature of fuel cells means that they create heat which has to be dissipated. A research project at the DUBW in Mannheim is investigating how evaporated cooling can enable natural circulation in a fuel cell.
De-burring process for gear wheels
At the DUBW in Lörrach, a spin-off founded in co-operation with a machine maker has resulted in a radial gear-chamfering process for de-burring gear wheels.
