The Metav has repositioned itself as the “19th International Fair for Technologies in Metal Processing”. Its core area, the entire value-creation chain with the focuses machine tools and production systems, precision tools, automated material flow, computer technology, industrial electronics and accessories is being expanded. Four supplementary topics are being integrated permanently and solidly into the Metav and represented in so-called Areas with their own nomenclature:
Quality Area,
Moulding Area,
Additive Area and
Medical Area.
“Numerous synergies result between the core area of the Metav and the topics of the four Areas,” explains Dr. Wilfried Schäfer, CEO of the Metav organiser, VDW (German Machine Tool Builders' Association). Traditional machine-tool constructors are already building machines for additive production today. New providers have joined them. Additive processes are also being used in medical technology. Alongside medical technology, tool and mould construction are in turn attractive customer groups for exhibitors in the core area of the Metav. Ultimately, quality assurance is closely tied to all fields of production. The new topics, as a permanent feature of the event, widen the target groups and thus also the potential visitor numbers. For the specialist visitor, the Metav thus becomes all the more interesting because information is available not only on all technical details of the production process, but also on associated links in the value-creation chain.
“We are convinced that the fine tuning of the content on the one hand, and the expansion of the Metav profile on the other, will benefit all exhibitors,” says VDW CEO Schäfer. The goal, we hear, is to attract further groups of exhibitors and visitors to the Metav in the long term, to create a new image for the Metav and to develop the strengths specific to the Metav.
