Event review Celebrating the Indian Machine Tool Industry at IMTOS
The 8th edition of the India Machine Tools Show (IMTOS) attracted footfalls in large numbers with over 45000 visitors attending the specialised trade fair. The show highlighted innovations in key areas such as machine tools (cutting & forming), automation & robotics, welding, laser metal working & additive manufacturing.
The India Machine Tools Show (IMTOS) ended on a high note with numerous visitors thronging the four day event in Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, India. Held from June 14 – 17, 2019, the show exhibited the most recent innovations in the machine tool industry and also became a ‘networking’ platform wherein like-minded players discussed their industry problems with prominent leaders from the sector. IMTOS 2019 was organised by K and D Communication, and supported by the Machine Tools Manufacturer’s Association – Rajkot, Ludhiana Machine Tools Manufacturer’s Association and DICCI – Dalit Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The event focused on key topics for the Indian market such as machine tools (cutting & forming), automation & robotics, welding, laser metal working & additive manufacturing. The additive manufacturing industry in India is expected to be worth 79 million dollars by 2021, according to a report by Indian fortnightly business magazine Business Today. This shows the huge business opportunity present in the Indian market for this innovative technology.

Auto Shanghai: At the heart of the automotive world
With 350 plus exhibitors from over 14 countries and across India, IMTOS also witnessed the presence of 45000 plus visitors from diverse industry segments around the world. The trade fair also received international participation from the USA, Turkey, China, Taiwan, Italy, Spain, South Africa, Germany, Japan, UK, Switzerland, and the Netherlands.
Seminar and concurrent shows
In line with the latest trends of the industry, IMTOS also hosted a dedicated seminar on ‘Additive Manufacturing’ for the benefit of industry players visiting the machine tool show. At the session, speakers from leading industries presented their views and shared insights with the audience. In addition to this seminar, two other concurrent shows – the 3rd India tools 2019: Tools & Tooling Equipment Show and the 2nd Comfast 2019: Complete Fastener Expo were also held at the venue. The technical shows offered an insight into the latest solutions and industry happenings in their respective sectors.

It is interesting to note that IMTOS was first launched in 2007 on an exhibition area of over 12,000 sq m and generated around 120 million dollars worth of business turnover. This year too, the show
enabled exhibitors as well as visitors gain potential business leads for their particular industries. The four day show brought together the captains of the machine tool industry under one common roof and left visitors asking for more.
