Event highlights Arburg’s line of innovations
From displaying diverse assistance packages to launching new innovations for the plastic industry, Arburg seems to show it all at Fakuma 2018.

The German machine manufacturing company, Arburg is all set to participate at one of the most admired shows for the plastic processing industry – Fakuma 2018. Via its ‘Road to Digitalisation’ theme, the organisation has big plans to showcase the ‘future of injection moulding’ in a new perspective both digitally and in reality.
In addition to this, Arburg will also display its six new assistance packages for the ‘Smart’ machine which monitors its own processes, controls them adaptively and actively supports the operator in every situation. The packages include the ‘4.set-up’ which actively supports machine operators with set-up and parameter entry, the ‘4.start-stop’ that simplifies production start-up, reduces the number of start-up parts and increases production capacity, the ‘4.optimisation’ which is designed for product optimisations and is aimed at enhancing part quality and reducing unit costs.

Product innovations
Showcasing the fully-automatic sheet metal handling system
The ‘4.production’ offers experienced operators greater flexibility and freedom when programming functions, the ‘4.monitoring’offers detailed process and quality monitoring and seamless documentation, and the ‘4.service’ makes it possible to quickly help customers through direct access to the machine control system and via online support, thereby increasing machine availability.
At further stations, the firm will also exhibit the new Gestica control system and the new Selogica ND. Exploring the dynamics and potential of ‘augmented reality’ in relation to the ‘smart’ service is another interesting section that will be hosted for visitors at the exhibition. Arburg will also launch its new customer portal which is expected to provide numerous services with the assistance of a cloud-based solution. Some of the central applications of this portal include the ‘machine overview’ option which shows vital information of each machine. It is at Fakuma that the firm will unveil the many advantages and opportunities of this portal.
Arburg's Turnkey Control Module at Fakuma
To add to the wide range of solutions, the Turnkey Control Module (ATCM) will also be presented for the maiden time at the trade fair. The module is a data collector for complex turnkey systems which visualises the process, captures the corresponding data and transmits the part-specific data sets. The electric Allrounder 470 A has been made the centrepiece of this module. Boasting of a clamping force of 1,000 kN, the allrounder produces two housing parts for a spirit level in 46 seconds using a 1 + 1-cavity family mould.

R & D
Has mixed construction passed its zenith for the time being?
Spotlight: Injection moulding
One of the interesting products that will be showcased include a high performance machine for the packaging industry, the hybrid Allrounder 820 H. This machine will be seen in a new design along with the new Gestica control system. Equipped with a clamping force of 3,700 kN and a redesigned size 2100 injection unit, adapted valve technology can also be used in this system.
There are many other innovations and solutions that will be exhibited at Fakuma 2018. So, do not miss out on catching up on all the latest cutting-edge technologies in the plastic processing industry.
