AMB – International exhibition for metal working
Competitions and promotion of the younger generation
The "MM MaschinenMarkt Award" has developed and is now becoming a fixed institution. Already for the third time, the specialist magazine will be presenting this prize honouring innovations in several categories, providing all exhibitors with the chance to participate and, of course, to win one of the prizes.
The practitioners among the metal-cutting experts will again meet for their traditional contest to find the "Lathe Operator of the Year". This competition is organised by the specialist magazine "fertigung". This year, the partner providing the lathes required for the competition is Haas Automation Europe. After a selection process carried out before the trade fair, five lather operators will then compete against each other, performing tricky tasks live at the trade fair. In addition to the honour of being Germany's best lathe operator, they also stand to win attractive prizes.
Meanwhile, the younger generation will meet at the "World Skills Germany", the German championship for the upcoming generation in the skills of CNC turning and CNC milling. The competition is organised by World Skills Germany e. V., and the winners will take part in the WorldSkills in AbuDabi in 2017. The competition is a real advertising event for the interesting profession of cutting machine operator.
This is also the purpose of the "Special show for young people" organised by the Foundation for Youth of the VDW (German Machine Tool Builders' Association). The show, in which the young people go through several stages and get to know the various manufacturing steps in practice, is intended to attract youngsters to technical professions in machine tool construction.
On September 16th, career starters and young professionals in the MINT subjects (mathematics, information sciences, natural sciences and technology) will meet at the congress and careers trade fair "European MINT Convention" at AMB. There they will meet interesting employers and HR managers. The best part is that the AMB combination ticket also provides admission to the careers trade fair. For further information, go to www.mintcon.eu. On this subject, a look at the "Jobboarding.de" website is also recommended. This portal provides job offers, and job requests can also be uploaded.
In addition, participation in the "Career Walk" is also worthwhile for students and university graduates. This involves guided trade fair tours organised by the Stuttgart Region Economic Development Corporation, with the aim of bringing students and potential employers into contact with each other.
Another permanent feature at AMB is the "Art meets Technology" competition. This year the motto is "AMB on fire", and it will involve a barbecue construction competition for trainees in exhibiting companies. The most original, artistic barbecue will win the prize.
