Trumpf at the Metav 2018 3-D Metal Printing with Start-to-Finish Software
Editor: Peter Königsreuther
The Truprint 3000 from Trumpf is based on laser metal fusion (LMF) and generates metal components layer by layer on a powder bed.
With the Truprint 3000 laser metal fusion (LMF) system shown by Truprint 3000, such complex structures of metal powder can be built up layer by layer, they say. Depending on the component, the flap opens with almost all types of metal that can be welded.

The components can have diameters up to 300 mm and heights up to 400 mm. With a smart interchangeable cylinder principle enabling quick replacement of the build and supply cylinders and an industry-capable periphery, the new installation is aiming at series production of complex metal components, Trumpf explains. With the Truprint 3000, furthermore, the entire process chain of additive production is brought into focus.
One software package for everything
It begins with data preparation for the design and production program. With the software packet “Trutops Print mit NX”, we hear, Trumpf now offers for the first time a start-to-finish software solution with a unified operating surface without system interruptions. From the practical powder supply, which fills the large internal hopper, to the additive manufacturing technology itself, and including follow-up steps such as unpacking and cleaning the component, Trumpf is said to cover all areas along the way with industry-ready systems. But the exhibitor is also demonstrating Industry 4.0 in generative production, with holistic optimising of processes. Various tools can be used during production, for example, to monitor, analyse and manage a range of status parameters. The enabler for Industry 4.0 at Trumpf, they tell us, is Truconnect. This stands for network production linking machine, man and information. The Truprint 3000, depending on the component, handles all weldable materials, such as steels, nickel alloys, titanium or aluminium, the firm says.
